Autumn Art Camp 2016
Our Autumn Art Camp is for ages 4-7 and every day we will explore new and very exciting themes while working with different art materials. It is an amazing choice for creative kids to stay busy, learn something new and make lots of new friends!
At the beginning of each day the children will play fun drama and dance games that will help them to get to know each other and make new friends. We will then lead them through their first art project inspired by the theme of the day.
Half way through the session the children will have a healthy snack, including fruits, crackers, raisins and juice and water. Also we will read and discuss an interesting themed book.
The second half of the day, the children will be lead through their second art project, using a new technique and art medium.
Autumn colors, leaves and trees.
On Monday we will explore different art techniques and we will use natural and artificial autumn leaves.
At the beginning of the day, inspired by an amazing books Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert, we will use oil pastels and watercolors to make colorful autumn paintings.
After the snack we will create marbled fall leaves and will also make fall leaf mason jar candle holder.
Fairytales and Imagination
Our first project will be inspired by a reading of the Princess and the Pea. For this Mixed Media Art Project we will use paint, glitter, fabrics, ribbons, tissue paper and more. Our second main project will be working with clay. Together we will make the cutest gnome houses by using templates, cutting, smoothing and adding color.
Marine and sea life
On this day we will learn all about perspective. To achieve perspective, children will make a collage with boats of three various sizes in relationship to the horizon line. Here, near and far – we will discuss and create perspective by adjusting the size and placement of the sailboats.
For our after lunch project we will be inspired by Winslow Homer‘s marine paintings. We will do our own Clipper Ship Drawings and we will pay attention to little details as well: ropes, netting, sails at the bow, wooden slates, etc.
Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).
Dia de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday that honors deceased loved ones on November 2nd. The art itself is vibrant, detailed and rich in history.
After learning about this unique day we will make Papel Picado which is a traditional Mexican craft that features colorful paper sheets with intricate cut out details.
Then we will learn how to draw a Sugar Skull and we will add plenty of decorative details. All together we will listen to the Mexican songs and learn a little bit about Mexican culture.
The most exciting and fun class of the Camp Week! Everyone’s favorite Halloween art class!
We start from Frankenstein mixed media collage making, then we will do 3D black paper cat and at the very end we will of course decorate real pumpkins with plenty of fun materials: feathers, glitter, gems, papers, paint, stick, beads and many more!
Don’t forget to put your costumes on! And bring your buckets for Trick or Treating!
